How it works

1. Place your kit in a humid part of your home and outside of direct sunlight.

Tip: We’ve had success putting them somewhere like a kitchen counter, where it will be less likely to be forgotten about!

2. Cut an X over the mark with a knife or sharp scissors.

The mushroom mycelium will sense the oxygen in the air through the opening and will produce mushroom ‘pins,’ another term for ‘baby mushrooms.’ This will usually begin to happen within 5-10 days of slicing the plastic.

3. Mist 3-4x per day

Mushrooms love humidity and want a moist, but not wet environment. Mist the X about 12” away, 5-10 sprays each time should do the trick. Continue to mist until you harvest your mushrooms.

4. Watch your mushroom grow!

Harvest before the caps flatten out and become concave. For lion’s mane, harvest when the “teeth” begin to grow out.
